Several students of Enugu State University were seen in agony after the school fails to fund them to West African University Games(WAUG )2018 edition, despite promise from the Vice Chancellor. It was gathered that students had continued to put in immense efforts in preparation for the WAUG despite lack of encouragement and support from the school management but were rewarded with disappointment. In a brief interview with the Esut Minister for sports and also the school football team coordinator, ANYAJILONYEKA (aka Slow), he lamented that “it is heart breaking that after months of intensive training, the risk notwithstanding and also despite not having any support from the school regarding our transportation to to trainings, we the ESUT football team (the defending champions for that matter) did not go to Rivers State to defend our trophy.” It was also gathered that ANYAJI ONYEKA (aka slow) led some of the students to the Govt house to that effect and after meeting with the Enugu state Commissioner for Youth and Sports the latter was quoted to have stated that “it is quite unfortunate that Prof. Luke Anika (the Vice Chancellor) said that the school has no Money” seeing that the school recieves a Hundred Million Naira from the State Government every year.

ANYAJI ONYEKA noted that the students have been denied of their rights capriciously. He further stated that “this is a platform where scouts from all over the world come to pick players and most of these boys intend using this game as a medium to show their God-given talents.” (Citing instances where with the Enugu state Commissioner for Youth and Sports the latter was quoted to have stated that “it is quite unfortunate that Prof. Luke Anike(the Vice Chancellor)said that the school has no Money” seeing that the school recieves a Hundred Million Naira from the State Government every year.
