African traditions are full of uniqueness and symbolism, some might term it barbaric but that is Africans way of living. The act of showing and proving love has become a more significant tradition among the Fulani tribe of Nigeria and Hamar tribe of Ethiopia, whom proves their love by flogging and beating.

In Ethiopian  women from the Hamar tribe engaged them selves in a vigorous whipping to demonstrate their love for their men ,and the extent they can endure pain to please their men.

The tradition is known as Ukuli Bula and is done as part of a rite of passage ceremony for boys that are of age to marry or to be welcomed to adulthood.
